Life is A-Maze

I often find myself pondering what life's about. Are we supposed to work hard and struggle, or are we designed to coast through life with ease and fluidity?

I sometimes think life is a little like snakes and ladders. Sometimes you're racing up the ladder of success and other times you're sliding down into the abyss on the back of a snake.

When we are effortlessly reaching for the stars we will often take the credit of being a genius, predicting the future and anticipating what the market wants.

And sometimes, this may be accurate. Other times, we may have rolled a six and landed on the right square at the right time. Lucky!

Equally, it's easy to blame things outside our control when we suffer a set back. The economy wasn't right, I didn't go to the right school, born in the wrong country, and so on...

Or, maybe we didn't prepare well, plan for the future, build those relationships, keep an eye out for opportunities.

I believe there's a balance in life. There's a certain amount of luck we'll 'fall into'. Being born in Australia at this time in history was good luck, not careful planning. But being aware of what's happening around us, learning, growing, unlearning and adapting is crucial to not only seeing good opportunities when they arise but we also have the tools to take advantage of those opportunities.

Bad things will happen to good people. It's not fair but that's the truth. Being prepared when the drought hits is vital for survival. If we've been aware of what may go wrong, we can be ready for it. Being ready gives us peace of mind. It builds our resilience. When good things happen, we're ready. When bad stuff happens, we'll deal with it.

Turn your life from 'A Maze' to 'A-maz-ing'.

Look after your health, tell those you love that you love them, look for the goodside in people and pre plan your funeral. Take the financial stress away from those you care about and give yourself the gift of a farewell service you want.
